PeakLogix Partners with SSI Schaefer to Offer Advanced Automated Solutions

June 7th, 2012

It could be argued that one of the most interesting aspects of the Material Handling Industry is the fully automated systems and what they can do to increase an organizations’ efficiency.

PeakLogix has recently been selected as one of five exclusive material handling integrators for SSI Schaefer. SSI Schaefer is the leading (Worldwide) supplier of Systems, Components, and Software for warehouse automation.

The benefits we have as an integrator for SSI Schaefer are limitless – whether you are considering a manual, semi-automated or fully automated system – we have access to a wide range of dynamic products to address your needs.

Often times I find that there is a misconception that if you have a manual system and want to convert to a more efficient solution, either Semi-Automated or Fully-Automated, it is difficult and would take a significant investment of money, time and effort.  People sometimes see it as “Putting a lot in but not getting anything out”, thus inaccurately calculating their Return on Investment (ROI).   Often times, a distribution center may not rely on finding the most efficient way to conduct their operations.  The norm tends to be for them to look at what works and stick with it, thus remaining with the status quo.  PeakLogix takes the extra time to find the best approach for applying automation effectively, so that you will see an expedient return on your investment, by analyzing completely from induction to throughput.

PeakLogix is excited to be included as one of SSI Schaefer’s material handling integrators.  One of the major alignments for this program is that we both believe that it is worth the effort it takes to look into something and find a solution that works the best for each client’s situation vs. simply installing something that works. We enjoy making systems more efficient and we have many ideas and solutions that we are always willing to share and help with.

Strategic Leadership at PeakLogix

April 12th, 2012

According to Wikipedia, ”Strategic leadership provides the vision and direction for the growth and success of an organization.  To successfully deal with change, all executives need the skills and tools for both strategy formulation and implementation.”  This same thought process can be used from the largest of projects to the smallest.  What type of team should this type of strategic leadership create?

In my 11 ½ years of working at PeakLogix, I can honestly say it is a pleasure to work with such a great “team” of individuals.  A team where everyone from the Client, to the Regional/Area Director, to the Client Support team, to Procurement, to Project Management, to Accounting (both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable), takes ownership of a project and works together to ensure the client receives the best results, while we maintain a strong sense of pride in successfully implementing projects throughout their various stages.

As Accounting Manager for PeakLogix, I deal with our clients on the front-end when I work with our Regional Directors to set up businesses in our system, negotiate the terms of payment, and work with our clients’ accounting department to continue building and nurturing these important relationships.

Additionally, on the back-end of the accounting process, I have the opportunity to deal with each of our material handling industry vendors and manufacturers to negotiate terms and implement payments while continuing to develop and foster these important relationships.

I sincerely hope that our sense of pride in being part of the PeakLogix team and understanding leaderships’ vision and direction to work hard, is transparent to our clients.  If Wikipedia is correct, we certainly have the strategic leadership in place that will hopefully result in continued opportunities to prove ourselves as a significant competitor within the material handling industry while implementing successful projects in the future.

MHEDA Winter Board Meeting

March 28th, 2012

As my second year on the MHEDA (Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association) board of directors, I am really beginning to get the hang of it. There’s a lot to think about and do for an organization with 500 members.

MHEDA helps material handling integrators and forklift dealers operate better businesses and provide more value for their clients. This year’s board meeting trip was another great experience.

This year’s meeting revolved mostly around how we can make our profession more professional. MHEDA started a new MVP program to elevate the elite member firms in the eyes of the end user community, the vendors, and our peers. The MVP dealers must meet a rigorous set of standards to achieve this status (PeakLogix has been recognized as an MVP for 2012 – one of only about 20 or so distributors).

Additionally, there was a lot of time and effort spent discussing social media and although I don’t pretend to understand it all – I realize it’s here to stay. I am now committed to figuring it out and getting on board. Stay tuned to the PeakLogix Blog because we are planning to update it more frequently. Also, if you have any suggestions on ways that we may be able to improve our social media campaigns, we are always eager to hear your comments.

The MHEDA Board works hard on Education and Networking for its members benefits. Everyone should check out MHEDA’s web site, www.mheda.org, it’s truly a great site with super content and resources.

It is always great to meet with the 20 or so business owners from around the country, that make up the MHEDA Board of Directors, to talk about what’s working in our industry and how we can help each other improve in the areas that may not be gaining as much traction as we would like.

Until next time,
