The Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA) recently hosted their 58th Annual Convention and Exhibitors Showcase May 4-8, 2013 in Palm Desert, California.

Bob Giberson, principal at PeakLogix, and Mike Holler, Director of Operations at PeakLogix, attended this year’s event themed: Get Your Game On!

In addition to the great industry networking events, like the golf tournament captured in the photo of Mike Raby (VP of Dealer Sales at Steele Solutions), Mike Holler, Bob Giberson and Terry Bauer (Managing Director at Material Handling Installations Group), this year’s convention included 24 speakers, 16 presentations, 6 general sessions and 80+ Exhibitors.

Carnegie Hall musician and entertainer Mike Rayburn made a lasting impression with his “What If?” Keynote address, delivered largely in part by his guitar.  Mike’s presentation encouraged attendees to consider the possibilities if we don’t limit ourselves (or our potential) because of the fear of success, the fear of failure and the fear of rejection.  What would that innovative transformation look like?  In his case, he modifies music by mixing different genres in a way that utilizes his capabilities while providing a transformational and crowd pleasing performance.  For example, he might pair the music of Bruce Springsteen with the lyrics of Green Acres or the similarly strange combination of Green Eggs and Ham sung to the music of Led Zeppelin.

The Speed Track Workshops included a variety of program topics and provided the opportunity to engage across disciples.  The Working with Distributors to be Solutions Providers Member Panel Discussion was right up our alley and specifically focused on enhancing the distributor / manufacturer relationships to best serve customers.

Back by popular demand, the Poken, digital business card was used again at this year’s convention making it super easy for attendees to synchronize contact information and gain access to all of the speaker handouts, etc. through
